This is the most elaborately printed "cover"
in Postal History! The highly detailed
Boeing 40 airplane was blind embossed from
the back side of the sheet of paper before
it was die cut and formed into an envelope.
The globe was hand screen printed with
"real" gold crushed leaf. The art work shows
the route and the 15 stops that were
originally made in 1928 and these same stops
will be made in this commemorative flight on
September 10th through the 15th, 2008.
The envelope commemorates the 80th
Anniversary of Boeing airplanes carrying the
mail and also commemorates the 90th
Anniversary of Air Mail service.
On the back side of the envelope; you will
see the Pilot's Signature "Addison
Pemberton" (owner of the Boeing 40) & "Bill
Boeing Jr." (86 years old) who took his 1st
airplane ride in his Dad's Boeing 40 in
1928. The envelope is also signed by the
designer, screen printer and Copyright
holder "Jerry Turner".
Each envelope has it's own serial number on
it. There are only 300 signed envelopes.
The 42 cent U.S Postage Stamp was designed
by Jerry Turner of Nostalgic Reflections and
shows the original Boeing Aircraft Co.
building located in Seattle, Washington with
the Boeing 40 in the foreground being loaded
with mail and an antique car behind the
wing.
These special envelopes sell for $50.00
